Message from Principal

Many happy greetings from Namgyal Middle Boarding School!

Namgyal Middle Boarding School came into existence by the grace of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the initiative taken by Central Tibetan Administration, Dharamsala. We started our school in 1981 with 20 children. Our school is the first Tibetan Refugee School registered under education ministry of Nepal. Today we have 285 boarders and 231 day-scholar students making a total number of 516 students. There are 24 teaching staff and 26 non-teaching staff. Class standard ranges from lower kindergarten to class eight with two sections in each class.

When we review our achievement of the past, we have sufficient grounds to be satisfied. Spacious school premises with sufficient infrastructure for classrooms and boarding facilities, high percentage of academic result, impressive personal health and hygiene and discipline of our children, acquisition of additional land for playground and introduction of computer course are few major achievements that add more colorful feather on our hat. Nevertheless, as they are rooms for improvement, we need to toil, carry on the same spirit and evince genuine interest in our work. It is obvious that the road of success ahead is not that easy since numbers of obstacles emerge when we try to impart quality education for these young children beginning from K.G. section to class VIII level. Therefore, we do rational evaluation of our endeavors and achievements, learning from the shortcomings experienced so far.

Discipline, pupil-teacher relationship, working environment and making timely decisions to revitalize the school activities are major factors that affect the school result in total. The present status of Namgyal Middle Boarding School is the result of hard work and dedication of the entire school staffs. We should consider all our achievement as encouraging factors to work hard and achieve still better outcome in future. In our way to achieve institutional objectives and goals, we should not be perturbed by petty individual interest. We have to forge ahead together with confidence and with new ideas and strategies so that our school will reach to the pinnacle of success.

The main aim of the school is as per the wishes of H.H. the Dalai Lama, creating Tibetan atmosphere where our school children can practice and preserve our language, culture and religion besides acquiring compulsory modern education. The school also gives great importance in bringing up these young children with moral values so that they turn into decent adult when they reach for their higher studies after their school. We believe that our objectives of educating our children would be incomplete if we could not inculcate in our young children the human qualities of wisdom, creativity, kindness and compassion. Thus, ultimately they can be independent, self reliant and useful human resource for the society and the universe as a whole.

Up till now some 2218 students have done their lower secondary education from this school. Our school students who are studying in various high schools are doing very well in their academic as well as other co-curricular activities by showing satisfactory results. Many among them who have completed their school leaving certificate or college studies are now working successfully in their professions (personal, private or in society).

Finally, taking this opportunity I would like to convey my sincere gratitude to Department of Education-Dharamsala, Tibetan Refugee Welfare Office in Nepal, Snow Lion Foundation, School Management Committee Members, all the parents and all the faithful staff members of this school who are strongly involved in working for the betterment of school.
